Czech Constitutional Court’s verdict orders the Czech police to reopen investigation into the infamous ‘tree workers’ case

Last week, the highest court in the Czech Republic told the police they were wrong to stop investigating the infamous “tree workers” case. The court found that the police acted unlawfully when they dropped the case claiming it wasn’t trafficking.

THE TREE WORKERS CASE is invited to the VII International Documentary Film Festival on Human Rights „Bir Duino Kyrgyzstan 2013″ (One World Kyrgyzstan). The film is scheduled to be screened at the Festival in the capital Bishkek on Sunday, 22 September 2013, at 4:00 pm, followed by discussion with the filmmaker. The festival in Kyrgyzstan is a sister festival of the „One World Prague“ – Film Festival.

Screening at the International Border Review in Warsaw

Border Review 2013 – the international film review on migration and borders invited the documentary THE TREE WORKERS CASE to be screened on May 11, 2013, 1 pm, at Kino Kultura in Warsaw. BORDEReview is a film review event organized by Frontex in association with its project partners: European Commission in Poland, European Parliament Information Office in Poland, Polish Robert Schuman Foundation, Radio Kampus, Polish Border Guard. Planned to coincide with the Europe Day celebrations in Warsaw, the aim of the event is to showcase, through film, the complexities of border management and migration in Europe.

OUR CHOICE – Award from Phương Đông Journal

„Phương Đông“ (The Orient) is the monthly journal for the Vietnamese community in EU, released in Warsaw, Berlin, London and other big cities in EU. In November 2012, after a screening in Warsaw, the journal selected the documentary THE TREE WORKERS CASE for the OUR CHOICE – Award.

Training session for MEN

THE TREE WORKERS CASE will be shown at the educational workshop for the staff of MEN, an Austrian advisory centre for men. In the future they will work more on the issue of human trafficking and support concerned workers, in cooperation with LEFÖ, the Austrian counseling organization for female migrants.
